A former pastor's husband was very active and started a fitness group at the church. We started walking and having fitness workshops at the church. One Saturday, he challenged another member and me to run with the men. We ran and as they say - the rest is history!
My first race was April 2009, at the age of 45. It was a 5k and our "coach" told me that my goal was to run under 30 minutes. In my mind, I said - yeah, right! I ran and passed a few people along way. I got a finisher's medal. When I saw the results, I saw that I came in FIRST place and received a trophy! I discovered that I'm a little competitive and wanted to do more!
I like to travel and it's a way to see the world. I've run 20 marathons and after my last one in 2020, I knew that my marathon days were over because it was taking me too long to finish! I then started concentrating on running half marathons. I connected with like-minded people who were on the same journey and started getting focused on running in all 50 states, with Hawaii being #50 in 2025.
